TEACHING POLICIES
Piano Studio of Dr. Nancy Elton
2010-2011
The following information will provide you with all of my teaching policies, including rates and other details.
1. LESSON FEES
45-minute lessons are $45.00
60-minute lessons are $60.00.
If you are paying monthly, payments are due the FIRST LESSON of each month in advance. You are also welcome to pay by the lesson, quarterly, or by the semester.
2. BOOKS FEES: I will usually write the amount of payment for the new books in your child's assignment book, or send you an email communication. Please remit payment for the books by the following lesson.
3. Lesson Attendance and Make-Ups. Students are required to attend a minimum of 36 lessons per academic year. Most of the lessons will be taken during the school year, but some may fall into the summer months due to holidays and other conflicts. Lessons missed without advance notification are not made up unless it is an emergency. Make-up lessons will be given for the following reasons:
*If your child is sick, please call as early in the day as possible.
4. Competitions Fee: There will be a $10.00 in addition to the required application fee, for all competitions or festivals your child will enter.
5. Refunds and Termination of Lessons. Refunds are generally not given unless there is an exceptional reason in my judgment. If lessons are terminated due to reasons such as illness or other medical reasons, or moving away (something unpreventable) a refund for the remainder of the month would be given. If there are problems, or dissatisfaction on the part of the parent or student, these concerns should be addressed as soon as possible.
7. Returned Check Fee: There will be returned check fee of $10.00 in addition to any returned check fee that my bank has charged my account.
8. Recital. TBA. Recital is usually the third week of May. I encourage all students to participate.
9. Expected Equipment and Accessories. Please make sure that your child brings to every lesson all the required music, the assignment book, a small tape recorder and a tote bag for the books. Your child also will need a metronome, although it is not necessary to bring this to the lesson.
10. Practicing Daily practice is recommended. It is not practical, however, to expect that a student will be able to practice every day of every week – but, I encourage the student to aim for five or six days a week Please keep in mind that even if your child has occasionally not had a good practice week, coming to the lesson is still very valuable usage of our time, because there are so many things to learn and for which to prepare.
Please feel free to call or email me about any concerns or questions you have about your child’s lessons.
Please bring this Registration Form to the first lesson. I look forward so much to teaching you or your child! Thanks!
